10/3		A few corrections on your wonderful site as a tribute to Brithces. 1] He was named by Joseph who led that cell to the liberation of Britches at UC Riverside as well as City of hope and UC Harbor Medical as well as many other hits. 2] There were not 700 but 1,115 other animals plus Britches taken out of UC Riverside. 3] there was no woman named Dian or any other woman involved directly. 3/2		I was researching about Ingrid Newkirk and came across the story of Britches and your site. I was aware of animal testing and I'm sickened by it. I have read and watched videos I wish I never had. The images and stories are etched forever in my mind. I cry almost every day for the animals of this world and the needless suffering they endure. How could a human treat a living thing with such disregard and cruelty. I would say that most people I know could not harm an animal and are disgusted by animal cruelty. If this is the majority of my friends, aquaintances and colleagues then it must be the majority of the world?? So why do we allow the suffering to continue? I am going to research more about ALF. I am not a religious person but if god could have picked a time to flood us, it should have been now. We should be at one with the world and the animals. But we continue to use, abuse and destroy it. I'm so glad there was a happy ending to Britches story. My heart aches for the animals still suffering.

Although regularly regard ALF and other "extremist" groups as horrific, it is obvious to me how meaningful and brave it was for them to rescue all of those animals. 12/1		Attrocious human actions are always erroneously perceived as justified in the name of something, science is the name one comes up with most often. People are convinced that science acts to the best interest of humanity so the end justifies the means. If I can have cancer and get away with it then it's Ok if innocent souls are victimized in a lab because their torment contributes to my good state of health and to my well-being in general.I, for one, totally disagree with these practices because, frankly, I am not at all convinced that people are so much higher than the other beings on the planet to deserve or to dare demand the sacrifice of non-humans to their advantage. Frankly, the way I see it, humans usually fall short as compared to these other forms of life they, so frivolously, tend to disregard. But, this attitude is so deeply rooted that it requires a lot of painstaking education to make humans shift mentality and recognize that they are not here to cause pain and make money and consume, consume, consume. It requires a huge struggle. I wish to you people of the ALF all the strength and energy in the world and may you always have a successful end to whatever you undertake.In 1999, I chose to spend a few days in the island of Naxos, a greek island in the Aegean. One fine morning as I was unsuspectingly taking a swim I heard a lamb crying. By the beach there was a summer house belonging to a local person who had violated the law and had built his summer house on the beach. In the yard of this house there were two men who had grabbed a newly born lamb and had already put the knife around the baby's neck. The baby was already covered with its own blood and the mother of the baby...indescribable. She was screaming and running up and down and crying. She was in such a despair. The killers in the yard were slaughtering her baby and she could not help it. It was a scene I wish I wouldn't ever had to witness. There was never meat on my dish ever since. Never. In the memory of this little baby lamb and as a tribute to the poor mother. My protests and those of some German tourists who happened to be there didn't stop them from killing the baby. Our complaints to the police made the policemen think we were a handful of hilarious persons giving all this attention to such a trivial matter. See? Respect to animals is a meaning so hard to grasp. That is why I wish to you strength. I know I should have it because I am involved in animal welfare myself. I know it is so hard sometimes unbearably so......But then, you meet Britches and you get the courage to go on. And then you think, maybe it's not windmills I'm fighting against, after all!
